Hyperpigmentation care that respects deep skin tones
Dark spots, uneven tone and dark marks: what causes them, what actually helps, and the simple routine we use at Variety-Express.
What hyperpigmentation is
Hyperpigmentation is skin that makes extra pigment in one spot. It shows up as dark spots, patches, acne marks, or darker knuckles, underarms and elbows. Sun, friction, shaving, breakouts and hormones can all trigger it, and it is common on medium to deep skin tones.
A simple three-step routine
- Morning: wash with the Turmeric Papaya Soap, then apply Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 50+. Sunscreen is the step that keeps spots from darkening again.
- Night: apply the Extra Strength Turmeric Brightening Face Cream. It combines turmeric with kojic acid, alpha-arbutin and niacinamide to help fade the look of dark spots and even out tone.
- Knuckles and rough areas: use the Peeling Oil every other night on clean, unbroken skin.
Most routines need several consistent weeks before tone looks more even. Nothing works overnight, and anyone who promises that is overselling.

Questions people ask
How long do dark spots take to fade?
Most people need several weeks of consistent use before tone starts looking more even, and older or deeper marks can take a few months. Photograph the area in the same light every two weeks to track change.
Do I really need sunscreen?
Yes. UV exposure darkens spots again, and brightening ingredients such as kojic acid can make skin more sun-sensitive. Wear SPF 50+ every morning.
Is this safe for deep skin tones?
We formulate for deep skin tones. The products even out the look of dark marks rather than lightening your natural complexion, with no hydroquinone and no mercury. Patch test first and add one new product at a time.
What is the difference between kojic acid, alpha-arbutin and niacinamide?
Kojic acid targets existing dark marks, alpha-arbutin is a gentler brightener, and niacinamide evens overall tone and supports the skin barrier. Our Turmeric Cream contains all three.
Can I use the cream on my body?
Yes. The same cream works on the neck, chest, arms and legs, and our Turmeric Body Cream is made for larger areas.
Do these products treat a medical condition?
No. They are cosmetic products for external use only. If a mark is new, changing or painful, see a dermatologist. If you are pregnant, nursing or under a doctor's care, ask your doctor before use.
